Modern Christianity view and perspective on Death and Dying

Table of Contents Introduction Christian view about death Christian beliefs about the life after death Common legends and Myths about death and dying Christian burial ceremonies and rituals Conclusion Works Cited Introduction Death is a big enemy to humanity; few people if any would rejoice the death of a loved one. Even though some people see death as ‘promotion to glory’, many people fear death to an extent of shunning any discussions or thoughts about it. Death is a great mystery that religion, science, and philosophy find hard to fathom.Advertising We will write a custom research paper sample on Modern Christianity view and perspective on Death and Dying specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More Many questions about death and the state of the dead arise in people’s minds and rarely do they find satisfactory answers. What exactly causes death? What happens after one dies? Is there a possibility of one living agai n? Such questions cause people to develop many theories, myths, and legends to explain this. Many groups of people in the world therefore have varied views and perspectives on this topic. Modern Christians face this same uncertainty, because in as much as they use the same source of information, their interpretations vary and so they come up with diverse views and perspectives. Christian view about death Christians who believe in the Bible view death as a condition brought about by sin. When God created man, there was no death until the sinned against God by eating the forbidden fruit. Therefore, death is a condemnation that resulted from this disobedience. Christians hence now admit death as part of their lives in this world; as Solomon said, there is a time to be born and a time to die. However, many Christians refuse to accept the reality of death and as a result, many of the beliefs that they hold talk about death being a transition to a better life. For them that accept the rea lity of death yet believe in Jesus Christ are not hopeless for there is the promise of life after death. They believe they will be changed on His second coming to immortality, but as long as they live in this world, they will be forced to care for the dying, prepare, and have the courage to face their own death. However, the many Christian denominations today have different understanding of the Bible on this topic, giving rise to varied views, perspectives and beliefs. Some Christians believe that death is safe to the people of God and that it is a necessity to fit in the complete delight of God (Anderson 104). They also consider that bliss of heaven starts immediately one dies and that one does not have to wait until the day of resurrection.Advertising Looking for research paper on religion theology? This means that these people should be willing and even longing to die. This belief holds that once one dies, the soul ascends to heaven in the bliss and that only the body remains in the earth. The Roman Catholics hold a similar but slightly different belief. The church teaches that there is a place called purgatory where most people go through, to be tortured and purified so that they can later on qualify to get to heaven. Ray puts it that, â€Å"Not only did one have to earn enough to live, but also to pay off the ‘spiritual mortgage’ for the dead as well† (104). This teaching makes many who believe in this doctrine to fear death and be emotionally distressed when they think about their loved ones suffering in the torture of purgatory for do not know their own fate. Some Christians believe that when somebody dies he or she does not cease to exist but starts another life in a higher place as another human being or as an animal, either in this world or in another world. According to Essene, â€Å"Death is an automatic and nearly immediate entrance into a greater sphere of learning, growth, and service to which you are well-accustomed already. You simply live at that higher level of purpose, joy and understanding†¦Ã¢â‚¬ (172).This belief called incarnation is a bit complex, but there are Christians that strongly hold to it. Some even go ahead to make a wish of what they would like to be on incarnation. Another common belief is that once a person dies, he or she is in a state of unconsciousness in the dust of the earth awaiting the resurrection either to eternal life or to judgment at the second coming of Jesus. The basis of this belief is on the biblical teaching of the dead seen as sleeping (Bowker 97). This puts it clear that when people die, they do not know what is happening around them or to their loved ones on earth, but are unconscious of their surroundings until resurrection. Advertising We will write a custom research paper sample on Modern Christianity view and perspective on Death and Dying specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More Christian beliefs about the life after death Various denominations and individuals vary on the belief they have on life after death. Most of the Christians believe in a form of Heaven or bliss where the dead enjoy with God. Others believe that after death the person is freed from pain, trouble and suffering. Another group of Christians, probably the minority, believes in a state of unconsciousness where the dead do not know anything that is happening around them until the morning of resurrection breaks. Barnes explains it appropriately that â€Å"In the Scripture sleep is used to intimate that death will not be final: that there will be an awakening out of this sleep, or a resurrection. †¦filling the mind with the idea of calm repose after a life of toil†¦Ã¢â‚¬ (Barn es 297). A little big group of Christians believes that sinners or the wicked go through punishment in hell. There is a variation of this belief on whether this hell is eternal or for a time; also whether the torture is bodily or spiritual. The Catholic Christians believe that sinners pass through purgatory for purification from their sins before the go to heaven. The period that one takes in this place varies from one person to another, probably with the sins committed on earth. Personally, I believe that all the dead are in their graves in an unconscious state, awaiting resurrection at the second coming of Jesus. At that time, the righteous and unrighteous dead will resurrect and join the living. The righteous living and the ones who will resurrect then will meet Jesus in the sky and go with him to heaven. All the unrighteous will die again to await judgment and condemnation. This is recorded in 1Thessalonians 4: 13-18. After judgment, sinners will take their punishment in the lak e of fire, which is a means for the cleansing of sins from the earth. However, this fire will not be eternal but it will consume until everything perish. Then God will make the earth anew. Common legends and Myths about death and dying There are very many myths all over the world about death, given the different cultures that exist in society; however, there are some, which are most common across the cultures. One is the belief that â€Å"it will not happen to me† (Vernon 146). Most people do not take a thought at death because they think they are either too young or that it is not anywhere near them. They forget that them that die do not expect it. Another belief is that it will occur in old age. People do not see death coming in their tender age or at the prime of life. They think that it will ultimately come when they have accomplished all their dreams and old enough not to long for anything anymore; unfortunately, this does not always happen.Advertising Looking for research paper on religion theology? Let's see if we can help you! Get your first paper with 15% OFF Learn More Many young children die, young people and them in their prime of life. Some think that they will have lived life to its fullest before they die. On the contrary, many die through accidents and unexpected deaths, as opposed to what they always assume. There are they that think that their family members around their deathbed will surround them as they die while others think that when they die, they will not owe anybody any money (Vernon 147). This of course does not happen. However, apart from these myths that cut across the world, there are some common cultural myths. An example of such is the myth about the owl and deaths. In some cultures, owls are associated with death and bad omen (Vernon 153). Proponents of this belief claim that when an owl settles near one’s house and starts hooting, a very close person to the occupant or someone he or she knows will die soon. Many people testify its truth, although it is superstitious. Among the legend that tries to explain, the origin of death is the one of a chameleon and raven. It puts it that God sent a chameleon to tell people that they would never die. Unfortunately, the chameleon as well known is very slow. It took long time to reach to man and pass the message. By the time, he reached, he stammered from tiredness, and before he could deliver the message, a raven, which had been sent later, came very fast and delivered another message that men will be dying. This is the kind of explanation small children hear before they learn to read their bibles. From the modern Christian point of view, some people refer to Bible stories as legends. Although many Christians believe that the Biblical accounts are true to the last word, writers as C.S. Lewis and Andrew Greeley refer to some bible stories as ‘true myths’ (Anderson 200). Many Christians may not take this kindly, but it happens. Christian burial ceremonies and rituals Unlike other religions, Christians take time to mourn for the dead before they bury them, which may take a period of some days. During this period, friends, relatives, and brethrens to the bereaved attend the mourning period to comfort them. The corpse is laid in a coffin and sweet smelling perfumes are sprayed allover to ward the pungent smell that comes from the corpse. In some cultures, people take enough time to view the body and pay the last respect before burial, while in others, because of the fear people have for death, the coffin is closed immediately from the mortuary until it is laid to rest. Christians bury their dead in the earth; usually six feet deep, however, some lay them in monuments or cremate them. Cremation is not a common practice in Christianity but the Catholic Church is slowly adopting it (Herbert 190). Other denominations however have reservations about it. Mourners and the bereaved then lay wreaths around the grave as a show of the last respect. During funeral services, the officiating minister offers prayers for the family and frien ds. Catholic priests plead with God to forgive the dead person of his/her sins that he/she has committed in his/her lifetime. However, some Christians say this is not Biblical since no man has power to change the destiny of the dead for one chooses his/her destiny by the kind of lifestyle he/she led whilst alive. The Catholics also continue praying for the dead so that they may not take a long time in purgatory (Hapgood 360). Some Christians differ with this belief. Most Christians read the Scriptures to encourage the mourners and give them hope. The period of mourning of the family members and relatives varies from culture to culture. Conclusion Death is an enemy to many, and many fear it. Due to this fear, many theories have been developed, some for the purposes of comforting people and giving them hope and no reason to fear. However, some of these teachings and beliefs may be misleading and could make people believe in what is not real and turn away from the reality of their comf ort. In the many theories and beliefs put across, some of them have a great level of truth especially after keen bible analysis. Unfortunately, due to the many teachings and beliefs, there is more of confusion than knowledge of the truth. Similarly, this confusion dominates the varied beliefs on life after death. Due to cultural differences, myths and legends of the dead and dying are even more diverse. To harmonize the differing beliefs concerning death and dying, people should study the bible without personal interests to defend or justify their stand, but with the interest of knowing the truth. The ceremonies and rituals of the dead vary in various denominations. Therefore, a big challenge comes to the Christians; why is it that they study the same book; the bible, and believe in the same super natural being who is God and do not have similar understanding of the same source of information and God? Theologians and Christian leaders should think about this, and try to admonish any personal interests in search for the truth and the truth alone. Works Cited Anderson, Allan. Word Choice Disinterested vs. Uninterested

Word Choice Disinterested vs. Uninterested Word Choice: Disinterested vs. Uninterested Here at Proofed, we see plenty of linguistic mix-ups. However, few cause more confusion than â€Å"disinterested† and â€Å"uninterested.† It’s easy to understand why these words sometimes baffle even native English speakers, as they’re alike in many ways. Both are adjectives related to attention, for example, and the prefixes â€Å"dis-† and â€Å"un-† are sometimes used interchangeably. But â€Å"disinterested† and â€Å"uninterested† have importantly distinct meanings, so it’s vital to use them correctly in academic writing. Disinterested (Objective) The word â€Å"disinterested† implies freedom from bias and self-interest. When we want to take a neutral or objective attitude towards something, we would adopt a â€Å"disinterested approach†: Although he cared about the environment, as a scientist, James knew he had to address climate change disinterestedly. Uninterested (Bored) The word â€Å"uninterested,† by comparison, means â€Å"indifferent† or â€Å"bored.† Thus, if we simply have no concern for something, we are â€Å"uninterested†: Although Jane was a environmentalist, she was uninterested in the science behind climate change. The Prefixes: Dis- and Un- One way to remember the difference between these terms is to consider what the prefix at the beginning of each word means. The prefix â€Å"dis-† implies separation (e.g., disconnected, disjointed). So being â€Å"disinterested† is an attempt to look past your own interests: a deliberate attempt to adopt a neutral attitude. The prefix â€Å"un-† in this case implies a negation (e.g., unhappy, unknown). As such, being â€Å"uninterested† is the opposite of being interested: i.e., a lack of interest rather than a deliberate attempt to approach something without bias. Disinterested or Uninterested? As you can see, there’s a huge difference between the meanings of â€Å"disinterested† and â€Å"uninterested.† To make sure you use these terms correctly, remember the following: Disinterested = Neutral or unbiased Uninterested = Indifferent or bored If you can remember this, you should avoid errors in your writing. But since it’s easy to overlook these things, it never hurts to have a professional check your work. Try sending a 500-word sample to be proofread for free.

The WBS 2 module Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words

The WBS 2 module - Essay Example However, there were difficulties during the report-writing stage, especially when it came to choosing the scenario that would be discussed, all the while ensuring that the report was objective. In addition, accessing relevant journals and texts was difficult, especially when multiple sources were involved. The peer assessment feedback was a big help since it enabled the group and I to identify areas, which we needed to improve on. When I had to work on my portfolios by myself, I also faced various challenges, including time management. Moreover, while some of the instructions seemed straight-forward in the beginning, I realized that my tutor meant to improve my research ability, as well as ensure that I had an adequate objectivity level as opined by Hill. The tutor made it clear that any arguments used would have to be supported by valid references and/or explanations, which meant that I had to correct some of my text until I presented satisfactory work. Indeed, I am confident that I satisfied my module tutor’s requirements. It was challenging for me work independently, especially since the research in application of work based structure was very extensive, while, as stated, most of the sources accessed proved to be irrelevant to the portfolios. However, if I could do it again, I would seek to access my module tutor more when I came across issues that my classmates could not solve, as well. Time management is crucial in managing work based structures although I feel that was not my strongest point.

Planck mission explores the history of our universe Research Paper

Planck mission explores the history of our universe - Research Paper Example With the help of NASA, Planck was able to construct a composite image from observations of the Milky Way Galaxy made at wavelengths of light longer than what we see with the naked eye. According to Charles Lawrence, NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Planck is equipped enough to see not only the old light from the origin of our universe, but also gas and dust in today’s galaxy. Planck stated that it would make the data (that will be detailing all the observations made in the entire mission) available to the public on 5th February (Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Pasadena, California para. 4). With this data, that has informed research in matters including dark matter, theories on the cosmos will be put to a test and the knowledge we have on the universe revolutionized. There are several points of interest in Planck’s mission. For any study on the origin of the universe, there are some issues that need to be addressed. Dark energy is said to have had a lot of power over the formation of the universe. Today, it is still believed to be affecting the survival of the planet probably due to acting against gravity. Researching on how the dark energy can affect the planet or the universe is imperative to understanding what effects it had during the creation of the universe. The milk way, also, is another important part of the study. Our planet is found in the milk way, and it is, therefore, crucial that proper knowledge of the region is acquired. Among some of the most striking findings is the length of time the universe was supposed to have remained in darkness. Planck’s data show that the universe may have remained in darkness during its infantry period for a hundred years or so (Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Pasadena, California para. 5). This research, however, is inconclusive and subject to review. During this period, dark energy is a major factor of consideration. According to Planck, dark energy does exist, and it is working against gravity at an increased

Security and idententy Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words

Security and idententy - Essay Example In the modern society, security does not refer to the state as a government or a territorial entity, but relatively as a collective identity of the nation. This indicates that, security in a society may be compromised by anything that compromises their identity (Panic 30). On the other hand, societal security relates to the capability of a society to preserve its essential characteristics in the face of variable circumstances despite of the potential and actual threats. In this case, security is compromised when a community perceives a threat as a hazard to its identity since identity is defined as a set of ideas and practices that recognize particular individuals as members of a social group (Panic 30). Moreover, nations are imaginary communities and national identities, which are the most important references object of the societal security. National identity, therefore, involves some forms of political community, common institutions and one code of duties and rights for all member s of the community. This identity also suggests a definite social space and demarcated territories, which are easily identified by members of the community (Panic 31). This means that community members have a feeling of belonging into this identity. This will, therefore, give a clear definition of a state as a group of people obeying similar rules and institutions within a given territory. According to David Campbell, there are two conceptions of a nation, which includes the civil model and ethics (Campbell 24). These are two predominantly conceptual territories, which need to be protected by the nation. This is due to the fact that nations have to possess compact, well-defined territories. Campbell indicates that territories cannot be just anywhere but must be... It is clear that security and identity have a deeper meaning rather than protecting the affairs of a country since, after the Cold War that appeared in European countries in early 1940s, there emerged new and complex security models of states and individuals. These new approaches were considerably divergent compared to traditional, narrow concepts since they indicate that something can be a security issue despite having no threat to the state. Different from traditional phenomena, other factors such as migrations and cultural identity challenges can contribute to identity securitization in a country. The identity of social group is the object of societal security concept. Social security is thus something concerning individuals and its nature in the prevailing economy. On the other hand, societal security relates to the collectivity of identities and actions undertaken with the aim of protecting such identities in a country.

A Case Study On Its Strategies Marketing Essay

A Case Study On Its Strategies Marketing Essay Changing lifestyles, in the form of the rise in nuclear families and double income households has encouraged the growth of pet ownership specially dogs in urban areas of India. The pet humanisation trend, whereby owners treat pets like family members and are willing to spend money on goods and services to keep them healthy and happy, continued to underpin the development of Indias pet food and pet care products market in 2009. Growth in the number of single-person households and the ageing of the Indian population also contributed to the positive development of the market, with many single and older people adopting pets for companionship. Pet owners have started taking interest in their pets diet, health and grooming. A gradual shift from home cooked food towards prepared pet food has been observed. College Acceptance Essay

Education is one of the most important activities that we have to go through in our life. It is the reason why the world is where it is today. All of these progresses and inventions would have never been achieved if it was not for educated people. It helped the society to make smarter and better choices. Almost all of the inventions that make our life easier today are the outcome of education. Scientists, politicians, teachers, etc. are all first educated before they go out to the real world to practice what they have learned. Universities and colleges are the places where people go seeking for higher education. Students will do whatever they can to make sure they end up in one of these places. Unfortunately, not everybody is accepted. Every institution has its own requirements for students have to match in order to be accepted. Not long ago, minorities used to face a very challenging situation if they wanted to get into a higher education institute. These things don’t seem to be that big of a problem right now. Students get accepted to different kinds of schools depending on how good they perform during their high school year and on their SAT test scores. The controversial issue now is whether students’ academic background should be the only factor considered in admission. Even though universities and colleges are home for knowledge and students should be accepted according to their ability to learn, other factors should also be considered to give students a second chance at a higher education institute. Academic eligibility is a major obstacle one has to meet in order to be able to attend a higher education institution. Some people have outstanding performance that allow them to attend the college of their dreams. Others, however, may not be as smart and may lack the eligibility required to attend a college. Universities are places where students face challenging lessons and are excepted to try to the best of their ability to succeed. Those who have a better background in studying habits are more likely to succeed in school. The education we get at an early age will affect us on our journey to success. That is why universities should consider academic performance in their admission requirements. Students with satisfying SAT score and a good GPA should not be worried about getting accepted or not; They deserve it. As long as school is a place for education, those who prove they have been committed to their lessons should be the only ones given the chance to progress in their education. One of the other reasons why academic achievement should be the only factor considered for college admission is for fair treatment and morality. If a person has done a good job through out his/her educational process in high school, he/she deserves to be accepted to their dream college. It would not be fair if he/she is turned down by his/her dream college while a careless classmate gets his acceptance letter. It would not be fair. The student’s moral will be crushed. Not being able to make his/her dream come true after dedicating all their time on their education, will, without a doubt, leave a student hopeless. Therefore, the admission board needs to respect the concept of education and those hard working students and consider only academic eligibility. Admissions should only concentrate on how the student can reply to his/her educational challenges not on how they can run across the field. Athletes can not perform as well as those accepted for their academic eligibility, â€Å"they also regularly finish their college carries in the bottom of their class† (editorial 371). Another reason for the necessity of the sole consideration of academic eligibility for college admission is the future. People in universities are the leaders of tomorrow. They need to have a diverse view of the world supported by their education. They should understand any issue that may come from any part of the world so that they can help solve it. These leaders of tomorrow also need to have a good background in education starting from preschool. They need to understand the importance of education for life. In order to appreciate education, they need to know the rewards that come from it. The future leaders, are those who take school seriously. Those who take it seriously are more likely to get satisfying grades that allow them to enter a higher education institute. If we care about our future, we should consider it in all our decisions. The college admission office should consider only academic eligibility because those who think of the future are those who get the satisfying grades and those should be rewarded the acceptance letter. On the other hand, the benefit that colleges get from the athletic students is beyond anyone‘s imagination. Especially small universities need these athletes to compete with other schools and keep their reputation. These small, highly selective liberal universities such as Harvard have a wide selection of sports, but they also need a strong team. The problem these schools are facing is the size of the student body. The schools can not make strong teams if there is not much to choose from. Athletes make up 32% of the male student body at schools like Harvard and Williams, as opposed to only 5% at a school like the University of Michigan. (Editorial 370). If we taking look at the professional sport field, like the NBA, NFL, MLS, and others, we can see that many star players rose from universities and colleges. These pro athletes became stars by playing sports in their universities. These colleges are the reason why we now enjoy our favorite sport every week. Students come from all over the world with great potentials. Students who enter the United States after finishing high school or on the erg of finishing high school, will have a difficult time getting into highly selective universities. America is the home for many immigrant scientists and engineers, and these high school or college students from other countries could be the next scientists or engineers. Other countries have a very difficult grading system than the U. S. A. When the grade conversions are made in the U. S, what was the highest score in the class back home will now be nothing more than the average. This average grade wont take immigrant students to one of these best universities or colleges. Their background is the only chance they have to get accepted. Most colleges embrace diversity and try to accept people of all races. The more universities and colleges accept these type of students, the more diverse the schools can be. They can bring a cultural diversity among students which can be used in the future to solve problems outside of the U.S. therefore, these foreigners depend on another factor other than academic eligibility to be accepted into a college. For most of our population, education is the only way out of poverty or any other problem. people put their faith on it and hope to get the best it can offer. They will do anything to go anywhere it leads them. Before they taste the fruits of education, they have to pass through tests and other obstacles. Getting to college is one of those obstacles. To get accepted into one of the finest schools is a major issue. Students wish to enroll into a school they desire and progress in their education to help themselves, their family, and their country. In order to do this, they need to keep a satisfying score while they are in school. As students, teens have more to offer than their brain. Not one but many of them can make the institute they represent best at what these students do besides learning, benefiting themselves and their schools. Therefore, it is important for universities and colleges to take a good look at the students’ ability to learn, without forgetting but respecting what they can do when they are not in a class room.

Environmental Factors in Colombia Essay

Organizations are not isolated of what happens in the environment outside them, they face uncertainty in dealing with events in the external environment and they have to adapt to new changes regarding customers, government, economic conditions and technology. It is very important for organizations in Colombia to become aware of their environment because assessing it could make them more competitive and allow them to adapt and survive in the market, but the uncertainty Colombia in terms of globalization, technology, knowledge, demand, etc. is making organization to rethink about strategies and new ways to do business and to address all of the factor in the external environment. The factors causing organization complexity in Colombia are addressed by Daft, they are both internal and external: industry, human resources, raw material, markets, international, government, sociocultural, economic and technological factors. For example, in Camacol (Cà ¡mara Colombiana de Construccià ³n) the lack of legal stability threats development opportunities in large cities and scares away national and international investors. It makes necessary that the rules established for projects are maintained and are not changing every day, that’s why head directors in Camacol proposed to the government new ways to manage the permissions and monitor the decisions taken by majors in areas adjacent to Bogotà ¡. (Paà s, 2014). This is important for the construction sector because its development brings with it the increase of an important set of activities in industries and related services, contributing in this way to increase employment and to the satisfaction of an important set of needs of the population, in this case, the access to housing services. Nowadays we can not talk about uncertainty avoidance or external environment without talking about globalization, reducing borders and forcing businesses to prepare increasingly for indulging in different markets, ensuring its validity in the market. To achieve this, it is necessary for organizations  to adopt new strategies of growth, market penetration, creation of own responsibilities, coordination and adaptation of the products to various markets according to their needs. Many organizations that have been integrated into international markets have found the need to modify their products or strategies to meet the needs of its customers, because the factors that determine the environment change. For example Juan Valdez, have found the need to deal with government regulations in different countries, and lately with the entrance of a new competitor in Colombia, also they had to change its technology processes to transform coffee to sell it in every store and to make it more efficient and effective, reducing costs; this kind of changes not only help businesses in Colombia but in all countries the organization is in. Also there are International Organizations in Colombia that have adapted their processes to Colombia’s complex environment and have succeeded CEMEX is the tangible proof that the competitiveness in a globalized world is the result of a set of factors, a clear direction, state-of-the-art technology, human capital, good financial management, investments in infrastructure, etc. , and, between them, the actions taken in the aspects of Corporate Social Responsibility have given the company a significant competitive advantage. A really important factor for any organization is the human resource and sociocultural. In Colombia the labor movement that happened in 2013 and remained in 2014 called â€Å"Paro agrario† not only affected the government laws and relationships but also affected organizations that use raw materials produced in the rural sector. This represented a huge challenge for business managers, because of the workers demands. Not addressing this kind of problems with contingency plans would have caused major loss of profit, suppliers and market. The human resource sector is one of the most important factors in the external environment because it concerns employees, suppliers, customers, and mostly any kind of relationship made by the organization. On the other hand the sociocultural sector demands organizations to be more greener and environment-friendly that’s why supermarkets such as Éxito, Jumbo, Carrulla and Olà mpica offer recyclable plastic bags, because they know those bags are used by customers as garbage disposals that later on go to sanitary landfills. Also, Coca Cola in Colombia and Postobà ³n have develop new bottles and recyclable packaging that use less plastic and take up less space in the trash, they have also launched campaigns to recycle these containers giving benefits to consumers, with picking machines or donations to NGOs. Main telecommunications operators such as Tigo, Movistar, Claro, Une and ETB have been influenced in a big way by the environmental complexity because they are not only influenced by new demands of customers, they are also influenced and have to be prepared for the unpredicted changes such as: new regulations about communications, contracts and share; competition in services, offers, products; the way business are made with international and national companies in order to have competitive advantages, also by advertising its products nationally; offering new technological services and products in competitive prices. This organizations face tremendous complexity in Colombia, that’s why they keep studying the environment they are in and offering customers new products every time, meaning that in order to them to stay in the market they need to pay more attention to the external environment to run processes internally, this is a good example of a dependence on high uncertainty-com plex environment. Studying external environment is as important as the internal environment because one can change the other, also because there is where the needs are, where the consumers are and what they want to pay to meet their needs. Also in the environment are the obstacles to the company, such as the products of competitors, and the actions to have market share. Also the requirements and restrictions that the company must meet, all of that can influence the processes a company has, because a company is nothing without the interaction with the outside environment, and now is more important to be aware of that thanks to the globalization. Free Essays on Devil And Tom Walker Response

Response: â€Å"The Devil and Tom Walker† Observations: †The Devil and Tom Walker† is a folktale that brings reality alive. It is a model of how greed and cheat in life still exist. This folktale has two main characters, both living with a mind of evil intentions. Tom Walker is an unhappy man; always thinking the world owes him something. This is probably why he lives really miserably, and was so open to whom we meet next, the Black fellow. The Black Fellow is a devil in disguise, hoping to find a man like Tom, just as he did. He is about control and evilness, which leads Tom into a life worse then what he started out with. While I read the story, it was obvious to me that the text gets into detail, and then stops with a sudden finish, of each explained passage. The text was also very organized so it was possible to identify the climax, and the rising and falling action. It was also easier to enjoy this way. Thoughts: As I go back into the main theme of greed and cheat, I assume the author chose them for a reason. In many ways today, you still hear about them. They’ll always be around until people learn not to care so much about themselves. I know we are told to care about our needs first, but there is a point to stop. I mean it took a thing like September 11, 2001 to finally get peoples attention to volunteer their time and money. To me that is pathedic, why should we have to wait till the point of terrorism to be united. Also, it seems like as the world becomes advanced and older, people’s needs become bigger. What happened to the good old days, when people were satisfied with the greatest invention of 1880, the telephone? Now people have more then one in their homes, plus the latest in cell phone technology. We can’t blame our brilliant scientists and inventors for making the world easier, but only ourselves for getting to this point. Psychology of Diversity Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words

Psychology of Diversity - Essay Example Illinois law severely restricted African-Americans rights and liberties. This law demanded that all African-Americans settling in the state to produce a certificate of freedom. Blacks found without certificates were to be advertised in newspapers and hired out for a year. Free blacks could not testify against whites in court. Amidst of all such human right violations, some of the blacks found ways to make their marks in Illinois by acquiring land. The life of black women was doubly burdened by their race and their sex. Free blacks, who purchased their freedom from their masters, began to found new organizations and they joined hands with white abolitionists in the fight against slavery. But even those white abolitionists discriminated them from such activities. The blacks were tortured not only physically but mentally as well by publishing cruel cartoons describing the physical features of the blacks. Despite these considerable handicaps, African-Americans became the most significant Americans by the 1850s. The white American political system, that had so effectively marginalized them found itself quite unable to resolve the question of blacks political, social, and economic standing. The result was Civil War. The actions of President James Buchanan and Chief Justice of the Supreme Court Roger Taney to establish white supremacy and were brought immense protests from the blacks, and brought leaders like Abraham Lincoln into action. Lincoln, despite his reservations about the workings of immediate black social equality and other concessions to American societys prevailing racial prejudice, boldly argued that blacks, as much as whites, deserved the Declaration of Independences fundamental freedoms of "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness†, which led to the Civil War and catapulted Abraham Lincoln from relative obscurity to the Presidents chair in 1861. (Drew E. VandeCre ek, Ph.D) In this article the author has concentrated more on the slavery existed

Patient Safety And Medication Administration Research Paper

Patient Safety And Medication Administration - Research Paper Example Transcribing of medicine takes place in two major forms, which are through handwriting and computer inputting (MÃ ´nica et al., 2011, p. 225). In any of these cases, there was a study by Meng-Ting et al. (2010, p. 258) which established the most frequent cases of errors nowadays. Omalhassan et al. (2009, p. 389) on the other hand argued that the forms and reasons leading to errors during transcribing are different when basing these on handwritten transcribing or computer typed transcribing. While using handwriting, misspelling, wrong interpretation of writing and wrongful representation of figures have been noted to be examples of the commonest forms of errors (Hossein et al., 2012). When computers are used, Matt G. (2013, p. 28) noted that there is the possibility of the computer automatically changing or attempting to correct a spelling, which may lead to error with spelling if not detected. At the administration stage also, Moura, Prado and Acurcio (2011, p. 314) warned that error s are still possible even if all the aforementioned processes have been carried out successfully. In the light of this, Murray et al. (2009, p. 761) saw that the issue of poor supervision on the part of nurses over patients whiles administering drug is a major cause of error as it leads to wrong dosage. This means that at the transition stage where the nurse leaves the drug with the patient, it is possible for the patient to either undertake or overtake the drug if close monitoring is not in place.
